Ni Hao!
First of all thanks for the messages, it's great to hear and also once in a while be connected to the world out there! Keep them coming... as I will try with our Online Journal..here a quick update:
Well, from Nepal to Hong Kong was like changing from night to day, or better from no electricity to neon-lights, from fashionably late to the latest fashion or from the natural wonders of the Himalaya to the manmade skyscrapers. Yep, Hong Kong was pretty amazing. Though to start off we struggled a bit from the overnight 'arrastre' flight + 6hours at New Delhi Airport, the pace of the city got us going. We stayed right on Hong Kong Island in the middle of it all. We saw some great art exhibits, the stunning clean city (ok, it's a 500 euro fine if u throw even a cigarette butt..); Diziplin!! Also the service is great and the free Wi-fi's in even parks. We tried to sustain the shopping-mecca of endless malls and night markets (with great 'genuine' brands like 'Dulce Gabbana' and 'Armeni' bags etc. :)).
It's almost like Disney World, especially when seeing its orchestrated led-show from Down Town's skyline!
Besides the once-British and unique Chinese city of Hong Kong, we also went for a day to another special administrative region, also with its own currency and just a ferry-ride away, being Macau. This one is even stranger as it has Portugese roots! Streetsigns are still half Portugese (although nobody speaks even a word), you can eat the typical fishdishes like 'Bacalao', the eggtarts and zipp on Portugese wine. The main attraction in Macau though are its casinos. And the house lost again! (but mainly due to its free shows and drinks :0).
Actually Macau is said to have already 10 times more turnover per table than Las Vegas! (to which we didn't contribute though.. and my guess is that is because the investment is so cheap..). Anyway, impressive to see how the Chinese are stamping out cities though.
Let's see how the rest of China is... be in touch with the Dutch.. and Mexicana!
