LA blog (part 1, whilst i have wifi!!)
Woahhhhhhh, LA has been a complete worldwind! It feels like weve been here for about two weeks, not only three days!! We have done so much!
On our first day we went and picked up 'Verve', our Mazda 3 rental car, who beeps everytime we lock it (not sure if thay means theres something wrong or not) but we love it! Weve all had a go at driving, which is fun but need lots of concentration to stay on the right side of the road!
Once wed got Verve an had a little bit of drama at the gas station (we couldnt make it fill up because id parked it far too far away and on the wrong side and yeah just embarrassing!!) we jumped in the car with Gem and went to venice an muscle beach, which was definately an experience!
Muscle beach was tiny compared to what i thought it would be. It sort of was just like a little outdoor gym compound where extremely ripped and pretty disgusting looking men prance around in leather speedos... I thought it would be a huge beach of delish hotties - wtf?! Venice beach was interesting, lots of freaky looking people doing stuf for money and then being right f***ing rude about tight English people when we didnt give them anything! There was also loads and loads of medical marijuana places as well with uber hippies hanging outside telling us it was totally legal and didnt we have trouble sleeping, we should come in! Venice beach was full of lots of polite no's! We sat and had a lovely lunch in the sun on the sidewalk and watched the world go by, lots of massively tattooed girls and men with teeny tiny skinny dogs that yapped, very surreal!
We decided ot would be hilarious to rent rollerskates and we found a right cheapo looking place, the pads and protection wernt even included it was that skanksville! And the owners plus the girls had a right old giggle when i put the blasted skates on, i was on a little bit of a steeped pavement so went flying and me with no balence or coordinatation was not a good combo! I was sort of rollerstorming rather than rollerskating! We thought it would be a much safer bet in the end to rent bikes which was fun because we biked up the beach path to santa monica and watched the sunset next to the pier! We even watched for the green flash of the sun shining through the water but there wasnt one :(
We went to the supermarket one the way home to pick up some dinner and more vino and got home and we all just passed out with tierdness, leaving all of the shopping untouched!!
The following day, Tuesday i think ( its so easy to loose track of the das and dates!) we jumped in Verve and drove to the Hollywood sign, which we tried to hike up towards but couldnt even get close!! We got level with it but because of all the hills it wasnt a great view :( then we did a little drive around Hollywood and Sunset Blvd which was fun and parked up and went to the Grove for lunch and to wander around the shops. We felt like complete celebs and went to a really cute little permenant farmers market and had donuts and coffee and brought sweet matching LA bracelets! Mine is yellow and has a sparkily praying hand on it, the lady said it was for 'hope' so i liked it :)
Tuesday evening we drove down to Huntingdon, i was the designated driver, for a night on the tiles amd we got there about fourty minute later, which was pretty late, midnight odd! We were told it was a massive night out and when we got there, having watched the election results all evening (obama won but the public wanted romeny) it was dead to the world...seriously there was about three people in the whole town!! We found a bar with loudish music and headed in and it was full of locals that looked like theyd never seen girls in their life before, i think the technical term is that they were like flies on s***!! Everyone loves english accents here!! We got in a bit of a scrap in the MacDonalds at 3am because the boys in front of us were talking soooo long, so we beeped and then got told off, hilarious!! Half the girls were out like lights in the back too!!
