This is my first entry for my travel blog and I feel that there is no better location than where I currently am. Middle of England, about 10 miles from the furthest point from any coastline, its wet, grim and to top it all off...there is a huge inflatable santa that seems to be mocking me from outside the front window.
My journey so far has taken me to Oxford and my local doctor's surgery countless times in order to pay for my flights, plan my route and have the necessary jabs. Everything is now paid for and i am nearly invincible (from all the jabs i've had thus far). I count it as just under 8 weeks til I depart which still seems a life time away as my current job is not helping the time to move any quicker. Fortunately though I have a few upcoming events which help break down the time left into more manageable time periods.
Enough of home though. I'm sure that everyone who reads this is probably familiar with the rubbish weather and all else so I will hasily proceed to tell you in brief about my journey which begins on the 1st Feb 2008.
It all begins with the descent to Heathrow. I originally thougt it would just be me on the flight out to Bangkok but speaking to 2 of my home boys i discovered that we are incredibly on the same flight out despite not travelling together. The 2 party animals are both good friends and we all went to Kos in Greece earlier this year for a ripe old piss up accompanied by 1 or 11 other mates.
I'm in Bangkok for exactly 1 month (it honestly has nothing to do with having to shell out more money for a prolonged visa), afterwards I head to Bali via Singapore where I will be staying for 3 weeks. Bali to Darwin is my next journey where I am only stopping for 10 days before flying south to Sydney where my next flight is not for 5 weeks so i'm sure I will get to see alot of the East Coast and other areas. Sydney to Nadi is next and 2 weeks later i fly to Auckland where I will be staying for 4 weeks. I then will fly across the Pacific to Santiago and 1 week later i fly up to Peru for the remaider of my travels (which is 6 and a half weeks). This totals as 6 and a half months or 26 weeks or 182 days or however many hours.
All I know is for the time being...there is still much more work to be done for the Oxfordshire County Council before I can even contemplate the wonders that i'm sure will happen on my trip.
Peace out everyone and i'm sure you will hear from me soon with some enticing tales about the Oxford Options building, headington.
