The journey to Byron Bay wasn't to far which was handy with the hangovers we had and i didn't know what to expect to from Byron Bay. Carrie said it was amazing but i didn't have the same enthusiasm until we pulled up into the centre and got of the coach. It was what i had been waiting for, everyone was just chilled out to the max, board shorts and flip flops for the next week! Everything was so calm and relaxed, everyone was friendly and on the same level it was brilliant.
We managed to get ourselves a 5 bed room to ourselves in the only hostel that has beach access on its doorstep, quality! We booked 3 nights but this turned in to 7 as the days went by, we just didn't want to leave.
The week was spent chilling out on the beach, trying to learn how to surf and body boarding, my first attempt to stand up on a surf board and i nailed it! Managed to ride the wave all the way in but that was it for the day, i couldn't get up for the rest of the day L although the waves were really good the rip was very strong and before you knew it you were 100m down from where you starte and it was really hard to fight against it so got tired real quick. Im sure if we knew how to surf it wouldn't have been taht bad but hey, we didn't know how to surf!. The surf in Byron bay was awesome, great fun if your trying to learn of just want to body board. The beach was lovely and the was a ship wreck just of the coast which you could see that created nice breaks for the surfers who could actually surf.
We went up to the light house and to the "Most Easterly Point In Australia" which was a walk down the steps from the light house. We rented bikes to cycle there which absolutely knackered us out and a well deserved ice cream was eaten at the top and i have to say, it was and still is the best ice cream i have had to this day. I bought one for me and kel to share (i think that scored me some good points) and i still to this day haven't found anything to beat it. We saw some dolphins and took some pics of the place, the beaches on either side of us at the light house were both amazing, it really was the best place id been so far in Oz.
Byron Bay was where we found Goon. Id heard people talk about it but had not yet let myself become a victim of it. Its the cheapest wine ive ever seen, 5 litres for $12! Most nights were spent at our hostel because it was the best place to be honest, everyone came out of there rooms and partied together on the balconies and garden. We ventured out once to Cheeky Monkeys where true to form Kelly won the basket ball competition and won a trip to Nimbin. Only b***** was that we had already been to Nimbin but ill write a separate blog entry on this even though it was a day trip during our time at Byron.
Byron was definitely the best bit so far, we just relaxed for a week and recharged before the biggest trip we had don't so far. All the way down to Sydney. Me and Kelly were getting on great and she was going to show me the sites of Sydney and take us lot out with her and kevs friends.
If yo check out the pics of Byron you'll see how chilled out the place is.
