Place: Alice Springs
Weather: Sunny
Set my alarm for 8am ready to get some free breakfast. After we had had that we went back to bed. We were forced to get up at 9.30 though since we had to check out at 10. We left our bags in the luggage storage room and then went to a free didgeridoo lesson.
It was really really hard! For some reason I cant blow raspberries for very long and I do them too hard so it just doesn't work. The guy showing us was amazing though. That was only on until 11 so we didn't really know what to do with ourselves after that. We decided to sit and have some lunch at the bottom of Anzac Hill; I had a couple of burgers (just the burger part) that I had taken from the trip the day before.
We then head to McDonalds to spend some time on the free internet. That's when I discovered that I had more money than I thought I had!! So that meant I could eat everyday for the rest of my trip without running the risk of being homeless for a night!! Yey!!!
That filled up a few hours but we still had a few hours to fill before we both left Alice Springs. So we decided to head back to the hostel and watch a film. Unfortunately they had downloaded without any sound which was really annoying as I didn't know what I would do on my train all night now. Instead we watched a couple of episodes of How I Met Your Mother and then a bit of The Days Of Our Lives in the TV room which is super dramatic and cheesy.
Louisa left an hour earlier than me to catch her flight. Later I walked up with my huugeee backpack to the train station. My legs were killing me when I got there! It was full of old people!!! My seat was next to another English girl but I found out later her friend was behind her so I offered to swap so they could sit together. It only made sense really, and then I would get a window seat J.
The Ghan is a pretty famous train that goes all the way from Adelaide to Darwin. The whole journey would take 54 hours from Adelaide and it travels 2979km. Thankfully I only did half of that but it was still like travelling over the whole of England and Scotland from bottom to top and probably further. There is a picture of Australia with loads of different European countries in it and they just look like nothing inside it! England wouldn't even reach between Melbourne and Sydney!

Gran Oooh... I envy your Ghan journey. Had hoped to travel on it from Alice to Coober Pedy, but timing was wrong. It had to be Greyhound instead.
