After 1 train from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, an overnight train to Guilin and an 1 1/2 hour bus ride we made it to Yangshuo! Yangshuo was a town surrounded by countryside and the Li River! Stunning! On our first day off arrival we took a boat cruise down the Li River to take in the views of the Limestone peaks! This boat cruise beats all other boat trips i have done by far! Gorgeous! The next day we went cycling in the countryside through the rice fields! We managed to get lost which was eventful in tiny villages where all they spoke was chinese - it was half the adventure though :-). Eventually we found our way to the Water Cave - a huge cave and back to town after cycling about 20km! Loved my stay in Yangshuo, had a lovely atmosphere with the cobbled pedrestrian streets and chinese lamps..... I was sad to leave!
There were lots off western restaurants in Yangshuo as its a popular tourist trail, so ordering food was not a problem! Getting our train tickets at the station was a bit overwhelming at first as its all in Chinese but we got by with a helpful english speaking security guard that directed us in the right direction!
