So now we move on to Iguassu Falls .........spelt several different ways it would seem. The Iguassu river makes a border between Brazil and Argentina and from one point we could see the river touch the border of Paraguay too. It would seem that the river is expected to be a big enough deterrent to illegal immigration but quite honestly some schoolgirls on an outward bound expedition could make it across in some places. Anyway........the falls. Well hopefully the pics. tell the story in the main. They certainly are impressive. Huge, noisy and very beautiful. There have been several walkways and angled viewing platforms designed to give the best vantage points and they work very well without impinging too much into the natural landscape. I should say at this point that the falls are pretty much in the middle of nowhere surrounded by thick forest. The area would be completely desolate if it wasn't for the tourists visiting the falls and of course there are quite a few of those. Fortunately, if you get up early enough in the morning before 'the others' are allowed into the park (this is a national park) you can pretty much get a short window all to yourself and that's just great.
We saw from both sides of the river. On Tues.we were in Brazil and then on Weds we checked out of our hotel and crossed into Argentina to see from the other side before flying on to Buenos Aires where we are now.
