We have SO much to tell you all, and sorry for having been out of touch a while.
Our remaining time in Peru was really fun, Machu Picchu was our highlight, and we spent a day on trains and buses making our way up. The actual site was incredible, and we learnt a lot about the Incas and the history of the place, also took some great photos! Other than that we had a lot of fun with our friends in Cusco, it was a lovely city. Lima and Arequipa were a lot warmer and we glad to see the sun, although there wasn't a lot to do there in either. Lima we went to cinema a couple of times, having seen the sights in the centre. Unfortunately on our last day, Lucy's camera was lost/stolen, (although now found and being posted home) but it did put a bit of a downer on the end of the trip.
And so we made our way across 18 time zones, to Singapore. We were staying with some family friends of Tora's who very kindly had us for a couple of nights. We felt so lucky to be in a home with air con, since it was sweltering and sticky all day and all night. We went into the centre of Singapore to see some of the ridiculous buildings, though we found the city pretty business orientated, and so instead headed to the Polo Club with the Ingrams. It was so great to swim in a proper swimming pool, and this kept us busy for the rest of our time there.
Soon enough we were off again to Vietnam, where we landed in Hanoi, and arrived at our lovely hostel. We have been very cultural here you will be pleased to hear after Lima's cinema trips! We have seen plenty of pagodas, this morning we went to the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh - slightly creepy.
Yesterday we took a tour to Halong Bay which was fantastic. The scenery was beautiful and it is supposed to be a natural wonder of the world. Lunch was yummy, and we got to go inside a cave which was really cool although slightly touristy. We are finding Vietnam so different to South America, very hot and sticky, but also just so bustling and a real culture change, which is great. Having to get used to far more Asian food at one time than we are used to, but loving it here. We are heading to Hue this afternoon, which should be fun. Lots to see!
Lots of love xxxxxx
