Helllloooo!
We are finally back, sorry it has been a long time but we have been very busy! Since we last wrote to you we have been to see the Kings of Leon, taken a 12hr bus ride to Melbourne, stayed in Melbourne for a whole week and even went to the Grand Prix, then we have had a 3 day road trip to Adelaide, where we arrived today! So you can understand our lack of blogging!
Anyway our last few days in Sydney we just spent on the beach before we waved goodbye to our beloved 'Winny' hotel! $33 a night plus fridge, fox sports tv and free breakfast...it's yet to be matched! Anyway we took a 12 hour bus ride to Melbourne on the Sunday night with 'Tony' of Firefly! It was surprisingly easy and didn't seem like 12 hours. Anyway we arrived in Melbourne and it was grey and cloudy and so we caught up on some much needed sleep. In that hostel there was a weirdo boy on our floor who was banging on one of the doors shouting he was gona break the door down and kill the person if they didnt open the door...I got scared but Robbie didnt care but I reported him the next day! The rest of the week flew by but I can't really rememebr much of what we did excpet we found the best Greek restaurant ever, Alpha Ouzeri...on Brunswick Street, I recommend you check it out. After a few days wandering around we were getting a bit bored, so that was when we decided to go to the Grand Prix on the sunday for something to do! It was a nice day so we had a little picnic and a walk around Albert Park before settling on a stand so we could see the race....which was sooooo loud..defo should have purchased some ear plugs...vital mistake! After we waited ages for The Who to play but we were tired, hungry and a bit cold so we left after about 6 songs!
The next day we got our little nippy suzuki swift and set off along the Great Ocean Road. As you can see from the pics the 1st day was a bit grey and cold but it did brighten up by the time we reached Apollo Bay for a pit stop and stayed clear for the Twelve Apostles and until our destination of Warrnambool. Here we had a whole 6 bed dorm to ourselves with an ensuite so we were happy enough! We got up early the next day, despite my sore throat :( and headed off on the next leg of our journey, to cross the South Australia border. On the way we stopped at Port Fairy for a breakfast snack and Portland for lunch and Mount Gambier to see the 'Blue Lake' which was ridiculously blue for no particular reason we learnt! It was soooo hot too here, and arriving in Robe at 4.45pm Victoria time but 4.15pm SA time...weird! The hostel was really nice...like a house with a massive clean kitchen so we had jacket potato with beans and cheese and a doughnut for dessert! We stocked before we left the next day as there wernt going to be many stops before we arrived in Adelaide. Throughout the drive we failed to see a live kangaroo, much to my disappointment, but we saw plenty as road kill and even an emu (alive!).
That pretty much brings us to now...once we arrived we checked in and dropped the car off..robbie was very sad to say goodbye but he is currently trying to persuade me to get a campervan for the west coast..I said find a cheap one and we can! Yesterday we went to the beach as it really hot and the water was a nice temp not freezing like Bondi...but it was a bit stinky! Today we went to the zoo! I thought I was going to have to go on my own at one point but I managed to drag Robbie out of bed to come with me! I thought it was good although it wasnt London or Chester zoo!
So that is about it really! We are in adelaide until sunday morning when we fly to Perth at 8am so we shall speak to you when we are in perth!!
Hope everyone is ok and has a good Easter if we dont blog before hand!!
Lots of love x x x x
