After a day for the beach, then a day for scenery and culture, today was about adrenaline! Left Base at 8.45 and went to Agroventures. There were different extreme sport type things to doand as we were on the Kiwi bbus we got some good deals. Mike and Cai choose to do the Shweeb, which was the only of its sort. Its hard to explain but youre in a capsule on a rail and you pedal to get round a rail youre hung on. It was a race, was pretty close by Cai beat Mike by a little bit! They were both knackered afterwards and still ache now! Looked cool though. Me and Cai then went on the Agrojet which I LOVED! It was a jet boat that went from 0 - 100 in 4 seconds and it was amazing! Such a rush, took my breath away. Beats Stelth any day!! Went round a course, corners were so sharp felt like we were going to fall out! Would love to do it again. Me, Mike and Ajay then went to do Freefall Xtreme which was a freefalling experience. You're on a bouncy castle thing with a hole in the middle, from which air blows out and lifts you up. It was pretty hard to get the right position to stay in the air but it was fun! Really took the breth out fo you and made for some funny photos! Didn't love it as much as the Jet but was still awesome. We then went to a town to go to the supermarket and grab some lunch etc, then onto our accomodation for the night in Waitomo, Kiwipacker Waitomo. It was a really nice hostle, me and Mike got a double room as it was only $5 more (2 pounds 50). Gorgeous setting in the town which was really small and surrounded by mountains. Once we had had lunch we went of to do Black Water Rafting!!! I chose to do the Black Labryinth and Mike did the Black Abyss. Black water rafting is basically about going into underground caves to explore, and going through the water on rubber rings. My groups was less hardcore with the focus on the actual water rafting and Mike's included absailing and waterfall climbing with rafting aswell. Looking back and finding out what it was like, I wish I had done that one especially as it would have been nice to be with Mike but they said it was only for the hardcore cavers and I wasn't sure I wouild keep up! Mine was hard enough but I loved it! Started of by getting into our wetsuits and jumping backwards in our rings into the river, which was freeeeezing cold!! We then went on a walk up the mountain which was pretty tough in our suits but warmed us up. We were then told we were at the destuination and there was a tiny cave we were meant to get into! Got in, and it was pitch black. Turned on our torches and it was pretty cramped down there, not for the claustrophobic!!! Made our way through the caves which was tricky but exciting. Put a foot wrong and you were up to your neck in water so it got your heart pumping! And was very cold! We got onto our tubes to go under a really low rock then we were in an opening full of water. Floated around and it felt like I was in The Descent! Went through a tunnle and stopped for some choccie, then were told to turn our lights off.... above us were hundreds of glow worms, just above our head! Glowed sooo brightly and looked really pretty! Carried on and had to jump backwards, in our rings, off a waterfall! Couldn't just fall back because there were rocks, had to properly leap! I decided to be brave and went first! Managed to do it and it was scary but fun! There was a bit more climbing etc, then we turned off our lights and all held on to eachother and floated down a river i guess you'd call it. It looked incredible, walls of the caves either side, couldnt see the end and glow worms were covering the celling. Was like looking into the night sky. Was very peaceful, except one of our guides was really creepy and trying to chat up the girls. Wish he would have shut up so we could have relaxed! All the girls agreed it would have been better with a different guide, it was as if he had seen it all before too many times. That annoyed me, but it was still amazing. Floated along for a while and were told we were 206 feet underground!! Had to try not to think about that!!! Made our way back up and out of the caves, then floated down the river back to base. Got out of our wet suits, had a lovely warm shower and then had soup and bagles which was nice! Absolutely loved the experience, one of the best things I've ever done and was proud of myself as I'm scared of the dark and not all that comfortable about being underground, but would have liked to have shared it with people I knew as my group were a bit unentusiastic. Was very romantic down there! Went back to the hostle and sorted out my suitcase and went on the computer and chilled outside with the others. Mike came back a few hours later and told me about his trip whcih sounded fab aswell!! We sat on the balcony with the others and had some pasta for dinner, then went down to the pub. We played some cards and learned some card trickes, tricking Cai was very funny! Lovely chilled night in a lovely setting. Went back to the Hostle at about 12 and got a really good nights sleep. Quite hard when theres other people in the dorm so was nice to have a double room as we were soo tired from the black water rafting. Another great day :-)
