Well i can't believe that another six weeks has already passed and i'm basically half way through my entire trip! I'm flying to New Zealand on Wednesday and will be travelling up from Christrchurch - Auckland for 16days in the apparently freezing cold weather! Oh i cant wait....
Anyways, from Brisbane we travelled further down the eastcoast to Surfers Paradise where we stayed with a girl we met on our Fraser Island trip for two nights. She had a really nice apartment quite close to the centre of town and we went out with her on both nights aswell which was really nice. Surfers Paradise is pretty much what it is, "a surfer's paradise" so unless you enjoy taking full advantage of the waves everyday there isn't much for you to do. Apart from shopping that is! :-)
From Surfers we moved down to Byron Bay which I was really excited about going to because i had heard so much about it! Every person we came across on our travels talked about Byron in such a good way that i was desperate to see what it was like for myself! The whole town is basically covered in hippies and all sorts of strange characters! We went up to the Byron lighthouse too and got our photos taken at the most easterly point of the Australia mainland which was pretty cool! We went to the famous "Cheeky Monkeys" nightclub aswell and had a wicked time dancing on the tables! Loves it! I also did a day trip to a town called Nimbin which is basically another town full of hippies and burnouts who spend most of their days having a "cheeky smoke" here and there! Nimbin is also well known for their "special cookies" and i'd already been warned by Ed about them so i went easy on them! Overall the day was pretty cool but i just couldnt understand how theres this random town in the middle of Australia thats basically notorious for its marijuana production and somehow they still manage to get away with it?! Pretty sketchy!
We got stitched up in Byron though because it rained every single day so we couldnt even check out their amazing beach! I still really enjoyed the atmosphere though and would definitely go back.
From Byron we did a 13hr overnight bus to Sydney where I am now! Sydney is such an awesome city so im well glad that we've had quite a few days here because theres so much to do! The other day i was walking around the royal botanical gardens and then out of nowhere, i walked around the corner and there was the sydney opera house and the bridge! It was so surreal to be stood right next to the opera house after seeing it in magazines and on tv so much. Its like..."im actually here!" Last night i had a lovely buffet meal in the sydney sky tower and enjoyed some amazing views of sydney while stuffing my face! hahaha! Good times!
So anyways some of you may have already heard but i have decided to continue the rest of my trip by myself. It's not that i have fallen out with the other girls it just that things didnt work out in the end and it seemed like the best idea for me to go by myself rather than create any more tension in the situation. Whats hard for people to understand at home is that the amount of time you spend with people when you are away is quite unnatural and sometimes very hard to get used to. You spend SO much time with each other so disagreements and arguments are bound to occur. This is why I thought it would be better for me to go by myself rather than ruin any friendships i had with the girls as we will all be going to University this September. We're still keeping in contact and may, on the off chance, meet up along the way! I thought i should explain the situation on here so that no misconceptions are made of the situation. I wish the girls the best of luck for the rest of their trip.
