I got to Noosa at about lunchtime on Wednesday and met a Scottish girl called Cat at the hostel. We decided to go off to the national parkl that afternoon and take in the coastal path. It was beautiful but when we were about 45 minutes walk in we got stuck in the worst storm i've ever been in! The hailstorms were like marbles and the thunder and lightning was very loud and very close together!!! When we got back to the town we were soaked to the skin and walking shin deep in water. Trees were floating down the roads and Koala's hostel had a tree fall through their power lines! Turned out the hail had got as large as apples up the coast and went through car windscreens! One poor lady was in hospital after being struck by lightning! Very scary indeed! The hostl wasn't very lively that night as the bar was outsiude and its was still raining heavily!
Thursday was a little bit better - I went down to the beach and checked out the shops in town most of the day, it still rained a bit and was pretty chilly but Noosa itself was still beautiful. The town sits on the river mouth and many of the houses are on little island, theres loads of bridges and rivers and the poshest houses have jetty's at the bottom of their gardens. I think its one of the most expensive places to buy in Queensland at the moment. On Friday I'd booked in to get the free bus from Noosa down to Australia Zoo! I had a fantastic day out! Had my picture taken with a Koala (Very cuddly and soft but a little bit smelly!) Also got a great photo feeding the elepants and cuddling the kangaroos. Its a really lovely Zoo but very sad as theres so much sbout Steve Irwin - makes you realise what a wonderful life he had and what he left behind - Bindi was there early on with her tutor but dissapeared when the real crowds came. Will add the photos from this as soon as I have enough to burn another CD- we're only allowed to add them from not by connecting our camera's up to the pc's which is really annoying!
Got back to the hostel about 6pm and packed all my bags up before having a few drinks and meeting people at the now open bar - needless to say everyone got to see my koala photo!! I got the 9am bus down to Surfers Paradise the next morning...
