Well I didn't get up the steepest street in Dunedin after all - I ended up having an extremely lazy weekend there after getting a real bad cold and cough (poor little me I know!) I checked out the town center and three of us went to Cadbury World for the tour which was good! I upgraded to a Double room at the hostel/Hotel and got one with a Bath!!Whcih is a real treat after 3 1/2 months of showers I can tell you! It also had Sky TV so I stayed in each evening and recuperated whilst catching some movies!! Still I thought Dunedin was very nice and on Monday morninf the Stray bus picked us up and took us out to the peninsular where we saw lots of wildlife including an albatross colony. Theyre all just sitting on their eggs at this time of year so didn't get to see any of those wings in action though.
From Dunedid we went back to Queenstown - arriving at about 6pm. I was put back into the same room at the hostel and my friend Keith (in the photos with me in the pub) was still there staying and still in the same room so we caught up and hit a few pubs! My friend Anna who I met in 1770 in Australia came down on the Tuesday and it was her birthday so we headed out for the evening. At a bar called Altitude we entered the pub quiz and won $100 dollars on the bar! Brilliant - all the more celebrating we could do! Wednesday was out last day there (I'd talked Keith into coming up to Christchurch with me) and dawned rainy and grey so we stayed in and played trivial pursuit (I beat him - hurrah!! England 1: Scotland 0!!) and generally lazed about.
Got the Stray bus at 8am Thursday morning to come up to Christchurch. We had some quick photos stops on the way up but generally hurried along and made it here by 3.30pm which was pretty good. I'm booked into a hostel called The Old Country House (http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~oldcountryhouse/) where I'm going to be through Christmas. Its very nice and homely and only a 15minute walk right into the center. I spent Friday wandering around Christchurch central and getting my bearings and managed to pick up Natalies parcel from the post office!! Today I also picked up Emma's (which was pretty good as I wasn't sure it would make it on time so i'm smiling lots today!) Unfortunatley no sign of your's Jen but I can pick it up afterwards - I'm back here on about Jan 7th - so I get an extra suprise then!! Found Keith earlier too - he's staying at the YHA and am just off to sort out somewhere for Christmas Dinner - or at least something special for Monday - will keep you in the know with what we end up doing but fear not I shall not be on my own!!!
Hope you all have a fabulous day - and fun drinkies on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day too :) I will be thinkin of you all. Lots of love and festive cheer xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
