Didn't have the best start to travelling as the night before i went out in Oxford and we left at 8 in the morning to get home but there had to be an accident on the road so we where stuck in traffic! So got mother to pack my bag over the phone and met them at the services on the A303! But Kristina and amy got me there and we made it to the airport!
India is an amazing country! Even tho I have only seen a tiny section of this country! We defiantly hopefully go back to this country and see the south!
Once we landed in Delhi then arranged our itinerary for the next four weeks. So we hired a car and driver for 19 days. Fist stop was Agra to see vAgravg fort and obviously the Taj Mahal. Both extremely impressive and a must see. But I would stay in Agra for any longer than a night it defiantly wasn't the nicest place to stay.
Then we where back on the road to Ranthambhore to go to Ranthambhore National Park. On the way we stopped at Fatehpur Sikri.
On the first morning we went out on a safari to find a tiger. Which was achieved! So we didn't go on anymore safaris as we found the tiger. We stayed there for 3 nights thinking we would need a few more trips out to the park, do instead we relaxed for a few days went up to see a Ranthambhore fort.
Then we where on the road again and stayed a night in Bundi. We both really liked this place I would recommend anyone to go here and the palace and fortress to see here as well as lakes and Where jungle book was wrote apparently!
Then we headed down to Chittorgarh and saw another fort this time you could drive around as it was so big but otherwise not an amazing place to visit.
The we travelled to Udaipur this is a lovely place with another palace and temple to see. We stayed here for 3 nights got a massage went on a boat trip shopped! Mother couldn't stop buying! Quiet often when mother buys I get a free gift! So far I've had chocolate, postcards, a tiger head thing, scarfs.
Then we went on to Ranakpur and saw the Jain temples at this hotel there was a swimming pool so we relax by the pool in the heat of the day!
Then we drove up to Johpur saw another fort and palace. This wasn't a very exciting place but did get a free dinner and drinks from some 'fly boys'. There are a lot of arm training so this was a bonus. Especially as they where in there 40's acting like teenagers by bring in there own stash of alcohol (rum) and where hiding under the table.
Then we hit the road to Jaisalmer in the desert and stayed in a tent for a night, rode on camels. Then we stayed in Jaisalmer town and saw another fort.
Then back in the car and off to Bikaner we stopped off during the journey at Phalodi and saw another jain temple, think our driver enjoyed this.
Then when we got to Bikaner we saw another fort the only one to be built on the ground and not up a massive hill. And then when for a city tour on a autorickshaw.
Then we headed to Pushkar on the road we stopped off at Deshnok and looked at another temple this is known as the rat temple and this is no lie! There where thousands of rats, which they feed I guess it's something you need to see but I don't think I'll be worshiping rats any time soon! Apparently it's good luck if you see a white rat or a rat runs across your feet, thankfully the later didn't happen and i didnt see a white one either so no good luck for me!
Then on to Jaipur. Where our driver left us. We stayed here fore four nights. We saw the palace and an observatory which was actually really fascinating. The next day the elephant festival was on its just put on for tourist but it was a really nice day and the elephants weren't all chained up either. Health and safety would have a field day as we nearly got stamped to death by the elephants. Just makes me laugh how elephants just walk up the high street and no one batters an eyelid! The next day was Holi festival the festival of colour. Never seen the roads so quite. It's a bank holiday day and you just have a colourful powder which you cover each other in the Indians tend to wipe it on your cheeks and the give you a hug. Lots of locals and indians told us to be careful on this day and when where walking back you could see why!!! But you just get covered! But it's a fun festival.
Then caught the train to Delhi spent our last few days here! Unfortunately Delhi belly struck but we had done well 3.5 weeks and we where fine think it was the ice cream but will never know! The last two days where filed with sight seeing in Delhi and using the metro! The metro is really good and simple to use even has women only sections which is really nice! still get stated at tho.
Had a lovely trip in Rajastan, Delhi and agra. These areas are really intense tho don't really get to test as such. My favourite places where Bundi and udaipur. Least favourite was Agra. I even started to crave curries.
There are a few places i would go back to and some i don't think i will. To sum up Rajasthan cows (to look at not eat), camels, elephants, peacocks, spitting, horns, friendly people, crazy drivers. They love garlic as much as I do, lots of starring, and curries!
