Hi!!
It's been sooo long... Well some still think I'm in Japan so I had to come back and update my blog! and also because I've so beautiful pictures I hadn't posted yet.
So just for your information, my current location is Annecy, eventually back to the roots, and it's nice to feel home in the end ;)
Looking for a job for the moment and believe me it's hard work... especially mid July... ok I'll give up for next 2 weeks I think! yeah back on holiday!!!!!!
Japan = crazy
I spent 5 weeks in these sun islands between kimonos and mangas, it's been just Wowww...
I loved that country, so different, so respectful, so friendly but distant, so beautiful, so precise, so ugly, so messy, so everything rolled up in a neat plastic box packaging.
I joined my cousin Thib who lives in Tokyo and Martin, Thib's friend, was here too. We spent 2 crazy weeks lost in Tokyo's translations, visiting enlightened buildings, noisy colourful streets, meeting smily Japanese people, discovering a new world and changing our habits... I was pretty wild coming from Indonesia actually and I had to readapt to everything:
1- wearing shoes
2- wearing jeans
3- eating with chopsticks and not with fingers
4- drinking tap water
5- giving coins and bills instead of candies to pay in shops
6- opening an umbrella when it was raining
7- smoking inside and NOT outside
8- bending the head to say yes and NOT just rising an eyebrow (like in Tahiti)
9- eating california maki without avocado inside
10- ...
But things came quite easily, observing people around me.
After those 2 weeks, Anne (my cousin I visited in Tahiti remember? ;)) joined us and we left with Martin and Anne for 2 weeks, travelling around Japan. Thib stayed in Tokyo for work.
We started with temples and history with Anne in Kyoto and Koyasan. Back in the years, walking among Geishas and eating weirder and weirder things, attending boudhist/ shinto ceremonies, drinking tea still...
Then we met Martin in Fukuoka on Kyushu island (west south) and we railed to Kagoshima (South south of Japan, before Okinawa islands)
Near Kagoshima we hiked a bit among volcanos, BACK TO THE NATURE
Then we went to Shikoku island, south mid Japan, where we lost ourselves in Iya Valley at Chiiori farm (Matt advised us very well on that part, thanks bro). In this traditional farm, you can rediscover SILENCE, simplicity, gardening and helping maintaining this beautiful house.
Then we went straight to Hokkaido (North Japan island) overnight.
Fish market in Sapporo mmmh at 7:00 am and then hiking again but... in the snow!!
ski resorts had just closed unfortunately but some warriors where still nordic skiing.
Very different atmosphere on that island: a lot wilder, they fear bears on hikes there!
People and cities are PURE Japanese.. hard to understand directions and menus then, but
nice to feel lost ;)
Then back in Tokyo with Thib, enjoying that city monster for one last week... and then flying to Barcelona!!!!!!
I let you enjoy Japan pictures before talking about Spain ;)
Hope everyone is more than great, sorry I haven't had the time to see you all yet!
