North island, not so impressive, rained for the whole 2 weeks!!! we went caving and dan went to a live volcano. the ferry across was horrible really up and down!!

south island, absolutely beautiful! i'd recommend it to anyone. We went swimming with dolphins, paragliding, hiking on the franz joseph glacier, a pamper day at a spa and kyaking on the marlborough sounds. best way to get around, hire a van. average temp 4 degrees!
