Well the weather has been crap all day. It's been like home, pissing it down, but it hasn't stopped us. This morning we went on a rail cruise. It's a small 4 seat hybrid car that runs on the rails. If you type rail cruising NZ into google it comes up. It's an hour and a half trip, unfortunately there and back, but they have only been open a year or two and its a labour of love trying to restore the abandoned track and clear it of plant life. Unfortunately as it was raining didn't take any photos as the rain covers were on. On a nice clear sunny day it would have been spectacular. It was still stunning and the commentary was good. Both Andy and Dad enjoyed pressing the horn. We nipped back to the campsite for lunch. Soup and a roll for us and a half hour kip for me, before we headed into town. This afternoon we were booked onto a Duck Tour. This is a WWII amphibious vehicle built by the Americans and were used all over the world as well as the D Day landings. It's a big hefty thing but felt quite weird driving up to the side of a lake and to keep going. The guide and driver Grant gave a top class commentary and I think all of us on the tour enjoyed it and learnt new things.
A quick trip into Countdown and then back to the campsite and a quick dip in the thermal pools on site, yes in the rain! Early ish night as up and off early. 3hr drive to Hastings tomorrow, but dad wants to see a geyser that goes off at 10:15 every morning about 20 mins drive away. Thinking its going to be busy so setting off for about 9 hopefully. We will see. Night.
