Pasotti Family
- Up at 7:00 am and got packed for the day.
- Breakfast at the hotel, then to reception to head off to Quad Bikes and River Rafting
- Quite the drive, around 1.2 hours. Usual craziness or vehicles everywhere.
- The quad bikes were first. It was quite quick to get going, with a 30-second run down! (it wasn't hard).
- Drove through a few local roads, then into a wet/muddy track for quite a while. We had a ball going flying through muddy tracks.
- We had a brief break and had drinks. Ethan was then taken with an instructor on 2 wheels!
- The next stop had a cave (man-made) that we went through; then we were told to go over a jump and go fast. So we did - as fast as it would go! Was quite the jump into the water. It was a lot of fun! We got to do it a second time; this time, a group went ahead and, while fast, took it a bit gentler… we just went max speed again, which resulted in soaking them.
- Back to the start, through some local village areas to clean up and then onto White Water Rafting.
- This was another 20-minute drive (our driver stayed with us all day).
- We were paired up with another father and son (9 years old and from Estonia).
- We were driven to the start, with our guide just hanging onto the back of the vehicle as it was full…
- The walk-in (and it turned out back out) was steep, with very spectacular scenery, but also a notable walk.
- This was also a lot of fun. The rapids were moderate but fun, and the scenery was amazing. We went for around 1.5 hours, stopping halfway and taking a break.
- Along the way, there were a few extensive sections where the walls were carved out, which was very impressive.
- At one point, we got briefly stuck, and our guide ended up jumping out and pushing us through the rapids.
- In the end, we went down a 3m drop spillway and then made the very steep trek back out which was exhausting.
- Driven back to base for the rapids, and had some lunch overlooking the rice fields.
- Then, we went on the longest trip I think we have ever been on to cover such a short distance in our lives! We covered 30km in about 2 hours! I fell asleep a few times. Also, chatted quite a bit with our driver about local customs, temples, and religions, and the nuances between Indian Hindu and Balinese Hindu. It was good to better understand (especially as I had been avoiding too much meat as Hindus are traditionally more vegetarian, but it turns out not so much in Bali, and they are right into pork).
- Back at the hotel (finally!) called the girls for a while.
- Then, we walked along the beach, with regular fireworks, and went to a large outdoor restaurant.
- The food was amazing (noodles with crispy Pork Belly), it also turns out they have some dancing and fire.
- We got dessert which was presented and tasted as good!
- Ethan very keen to go to Water Bom again tomorrow! We will see how we go in the morning…
