Koh lanta (not Billericay as shown - the location setting is playing up on my phone!)
Wow wow wow! Such a beautiful island. So this week I have been staying at fishermans cottages. I had my own beach front bungalow with open air bathroom and my very own hammock! This week is all about totally chilling out and making a big dent in my books!
After a very long and hot journey to koh lanta from koh samui which involved a 6:30am taxi to then get the boat for 1hr 30mins, then a 3hr bus ride to krabi, two minibuses and 2 car ferries later I arrive in. Koh lanta at 3pm! Very very hot and absolutely knackered, so much so that I couldn't lift my rucksack and ended up dragging it - consequently put a hole in the bottom! I've not been having much luck with my luggage lol!
The guys that run the place are fab, a very friendly bunch who make you feel very welcome!
So I unpacked and then sat at the bar overlooking the beach and watched the most fantastic sunset, absolutely gorgeous! So I knew what I would be doing each evening between 6 and 7 - enjoying an ice cold singha as the sun set.....
I'll admit I've been soooo lazy this week, I have literally been in my hammock reading my books all week and it's been great! The beach was equally as fab as the sunset with a scattering of very chilled out bars! I would highly recommend this place.
One thing I would point out, with an open air bathroom you do get your fair share of visitors, in the form of 2 frogs, a massive spider, 2 lizards ( one I found in the loo!) a shed load of Mosquitos and worst of all cockroaches! One of which got inside my mosquito net which was a bit of a shock at 2am! All part of the fun - I kinda thought of it being similar to camping! We even had so much wind one night I had a coconut type thing come through my roof!
I've thoroughly enjoyed koh lanta and am sad to leave, but at the same time excited about getting to phi phi. I'm in a 16 bed dorm at a hostel there that has it's own nightclub! Not sure I will getting much sleep- thank goodness I did remember my ear plugs!
Hope you're all okay and safe from all the flooding - from what I've seen it looks terrible!
Look after yourselves!
