Made it from Koh Chang to Cambodia - just! Was certainly an experience crossing the boarder! Our driver from Koh Chang was quite sweet - he brought us (there was only me, chloe and lisa - an aussie girl) icecreams, though subjected us to bad 80s electro pop music on the way to the boarder. However he just dumped us by the boarder control and because he spoke no english he made it pretty confusing as to waht to do. then he took away our tickets and stuck little green bits of tape to our shirts - was so bizzare!
Having finally trampled through boarder control (chloe burnt her shoulders the day before so we had to kick/drag her bag across - most memorable) we had to wait for hours before more pleople with green stickers turned up so there was enough to fill up a mini bus (mini bus? i mean bus of death). It was old and rickity and i can't believe i survived the 7 hour trip to Siem Reap. We were being thrown around everywhere as the bus jolted along the "motorway" and i kept landingin peoples laps - though great way to get to know people!! Also kept seeing lights in the distance flaring up and i thought they might be old bombs going off - as cambodia is littered with them from previous wars and has only found a small percentage!! - though turned out to be a mixure of lightening and rubbish fires! Errr yes that would be me being dramatic - again.
Spent a day in Siem Reap - we did a tour of the Angkor Temples which was exhausting - i even managed to climb to the top of one, i must have been spurred on by madness and the sugar in the spirit i had just drunk. But the most exciting thing of the day was having a tv in our room that had decent films channels!! woop woop! - yes simple things..........
Am currently in Phnom Phen, the city, but we're recoving after some hideous sun exposure on our boat trip from Siem Reap - got some bad ass tan marks from my tshirt and shorts! today i just smothered myself in aftersun and have been sittin gin front of the fan to cool off - it's the evening and i've only just managecd to pry myself away froim teh aftersun and venture out! Anyway got a couple more days in cambodia then off to vietnam! hope all is well at home - am hoping the redness will die away and i'll turn a glorious shade of brown and then take lots of photos of myself to make you all jealous. At the present moment any photos of myself will be hideous due to the sunburn and afro hair - which does not like the humidity of Cambodia and has gone WILD!!
