Driving from Christchurch to Greymouth today. As expected there are heaps of sheep.
Quick stop at Station 73 Cafe in Springfield which is on the Tranz Alpine train journey...the homebaked cookies were so good!
As soon as we left Springfield, the scenery changes dramatically. Gone are the flat panes filled with livestock instead our journey has taken a much windier route through cloud capped mountains and steap gorges...glad I've handed the driving over to my friend for this part :D
Next stop was in Arthur's Pass. A pretty cool little place with plenty of walks. We chose the Devils Punchbowl which was more than manageable (especially in our inappropriate footwear choice of Uggs and Jandals!) the view from the water falls was amazing! The water was so clear I filled up my water bottle and (as advised by the tourist info lady) enjoyed sipping on some of the purest NZ water available.
My day ended in Greymouth on Cobden Beach. Parked up along the driftwood scattered beach sipping NZ scrumpy, watching the sunset.
