Ignorance is bliss. Not! For an afrikaans gal typically prone to 'want to please', the fastest way to learn (at least basic!) french, is to encounter several (on successive occasions) frowning french faces muttering all sorts of vile things with clear disgust, but in that beautiful singing intonation that makes you fall in love with the world no matter what they're saying! Non madame, le petit dejeneur francais! Pas de jambon, pas d'oeufs , pas de fromage , un petit-déjeuner français seulement: croissant, pain, beurre, cafe, oui? Lovely cafe au lait and croissant I had then!

I have difficulty leaving the st. malo bar where I'm having my (french!) breakfast, as they're playing toe-tapping Paolo Conte singing in french 'It's wonderful, it's wonderful...' ... And so it is! It's another beautiful blue-skied day and I am off to see Mont St. Michel if I manage to figure out the weekend timetable for the coach service. Au revoir St. Malo!
