A glorious morning and after morning coffee in the most splendid surrounds we start the short drive to the main town of Wanaka and to somewhere we have been so excited to explore.....Puzzling world! Another spectacular road journey and We park up in town, a very nice town it is too, we visit the i site and then set off round the bay to photograph "a must photograph scene". We duly found the 'lone tree of Wanaka' and snapped away. Finally off to todays main event a trip to explore the Stuart Lancasters Puzzling World...Apparently there is a 3D maze, a puzzling room and cafe, an illusion room and various art works. The exhibit was not hard to find especially due to the wacky bright coloured buildings and the infamous ' leaning tower of Wanaka'. Many wacky pics later we enter and first things first we find the toilet. Now this just happened to be one of the most interesting toilets we have ever been in ( what am I saying it is the...most) see pics but the craziness of the illusions were mind blowing. We then entered the 3 D maze. There is a tower in each corner and many bridges they say it takes between 30 mins and 2 hours to complete, about an hour later we found our way out...phew. It was great fun and no stress....we had the time didn't we! We then made our way into the tilted house all very weird, due to a 15 degree incline all sorts of things happened, balls rolled up hill etc. a few hours later suitably puzzled we left to make our way to Queenstown. Now our intention was to freedom camp for a few days in this area with a night of power. Having explored the outer town freedom camps ( much stricter camping legislation in the South Island and no free camps in town centres) and picked our spot we headed into the centre. Immediately we changed our mind we wanted to be right in the heart of this town morning, noon and night so we booked in for 2 nights at a camp right in town. As always we plugged in, showered and went to get our bearings. We already had a few must do things whilst we were here and 1/2 hour later we left camp reception having planned and booked a variety of dos for the coming days and an extra night! .. Tonight's must do is....eat a Fergberger whatever that is but a friend told us too and research tells you too.... We head down to the harbour, enjoy a beer and find the Fergburger place. We now know it is the most tasty largest burger in the country if not world ( the meat here in NZ is the best we have encountered). We had wagu beef burgers in Vietnam and I prefer the Fergberger!! We return to camp grinning from ear to ear looking forward to tomorrow's adventure.....it's been a long time coming!
