Wow what a day! Today the tour officially started. All together and loaded our gear onto the bus and left LA. Our tour guide ran through the 'stuff' whilst we drove through Orange County, along the gorgeous Pacific Oceon coastline. All the surf it just looked fantastic.
We soon arrived in San Diego and had a tour around the city. What a beautiful place, with gorgeous views into Mexico. We drove over the bridge to Conarado. I'd love to live there it's beautiful. And then through the Gaslamp Quarter and Balboa Park. We were also shown where the navy seals are trained... and told how they were trained... sounds like a piece of cake to me haha. Had an amazing peanut butter and chocolate ice cream yummmm!
We hopped back on the bus and went for lunch (burrito from Taco Bell - lush) and to Macy's, following that it was time for the self-drive speed boating option. Being a water baby this was my sort of thing. We opted for the faster boat, but turned out it was a bit dodgy. The three of us piled in and followed the other boats but struggled to pick up speed. Then the guy told us it's because we were sitting at the back of the boat and needed to stand up. What?!? The side of the boat was like 30cm high and that was it. So I knelt and leaned forward and by golly did we fly. And I screamed... hard... much to the pain caused to Josh's ear drums! How I didn't fly out is beyond me, so I left Josh to the driving and opted to hold tight... onto the lid of the gas can (it was all we had). We heard sea lions, saw a navy aircraft carrier and an amazing cruise liner. But again the boat packed up on us... but it was good whilst it lasted.
We're off for a Mexican meal tonight and into the old town. And tomorrow I've opted to go to Sea World and then for A surfing lesson on Mission Beach. Harpoons beware!!
Over and out!
