Hey everyone!
I've finally found some time and a computer to start my blog! It's been such a hectic week, so much fun and I'm now back in Bangkok waiting for my next trip to start this evening.
My flight over here was interesting.. I had a Thai man next to me who wanted to pull my eyelashes!! He spoke no english but wanted to keep talking to me so I had to fake sleep for 11 hours! When I arrived my taxi transfer met me and then I experienced driving in Thailand for the first time..Crazy. Whole families on mopeds, no indicating or anything people just drive where they want and everyone has to move out of the way!
I met my first group that evening - one American girl, 2 welsh and 2 canadian girls. They were all really nice so we went out to dinner to a restauant on the 70 somethingth floor of a hotel after dinner we went to the top of the building and were on a revolving deck looking out over the whole of Bangkok it was amazing. After dinner to get home our taxi driver got completely lost (the taxis dont know where anything is!) and so we had to get out and get a tuc tuc. They are so much fun! Its like being on a go cart they're terrifying going round corners but so much fun. We set off on an overnight train to the rainforest the next day then got a car to drive us to where we were staying. The car's like a truck with us sitting in the open bit at the back, scary at first but actually really good with the wind to cool us down and it's the best way to see everything!
We arrived at our first acomodation which was in the middle of the rainforest, they were little wooden huts which looked really pretty. They were very..simple no hot water and bugs everywhere! I woke up to find a slug opposite my face on my mosquito net and one night after dinner I came back to find a bat flying around in the room! So although it was pretty there I wasn't too upset to leave and get to normal hotels! In the rainforest we went tubing down a river which was really fun the guys that worked there dragged us down so we could relax until a big water spider thing jumped on us leaving usd all jumping and screaming wanting it to get off but not wanting to jump in the river! After that we went and saw some monkeys which we got to feed, they were so cute there were even tiny little baby ones :) The next day we went on a boat trip on a huge lake in the rainforest it was so pretty, we stopped at these bamboo huts in the lake where we left our stuff and went kayaking and swimming. On the boat back the weather suddenly started to rain with us hiding under life jackets and towels, we were close to shore when the engine cut out and a look of horror swept over our faces. Luckily the boat man fixed it but we still soaked when we got back to shore!
After the rainforest we went down to the islands, first Ko Samui where we stayed for one night in a nice hotel by the sea. In the evening we went to a Ladyboy show which was wreally good! I didn't know what to expect so when they came out performing chicago, christina aguilera, tina turner and madonna i was pleasantly suprised :) The next day we went to Ko Tao another small island it was gorgeous here, we spent 2 nights here in a beautiful resort right by the beach with a really nice pool. So we sunbathed by that, swam and went shopping. I also went on a snorkling trip which was on a boat around the island and they would stop to let us off to go snorkling. It was so hot and so much fun snorkling, I think i saw Dory from finding nemo! The last place the boat stopped was at this tiny island which was literally like paradise. We gave up on snorkling and swam for a bit, sat by the beach bar then layed on sunloungers by the beach :)
We left Koh Tao on sunday on a ferry then overnight train back to Bangkok where I am now. Last night I went with 2 of the girls from my trip to meet another one of the girls who was staying in a beautiful 5 star hotel. It was amazing we saw her room, she had a lounge, a gorgeuos bed and really nice bathroom. we then went to the roof top bar which was incredible it was so posh two of the girls had to put on different shoes that they provided and i was wearing shorts so they made me wear this long skirt to keep within the dress code! The views were amazing we were so high up it was just such a wierd feeling wbeing so far away from the chaos of Bangkok. After drinks we went to dinner at a really nice restaurant (the food is soo good here!) then went to a night market which was alot of fun.
Today I've been on a shopping spree and met my new roomate for my next trip who is 18 and from tasmania, in australia. She seems really nice so I'm excited about my next trip!
Hopefully I'll update this soon!
