Bariloche is very like the Alps with chalet style buildings and St Bernard Dogs wandering around along with the usual strays.
We arrived here on the tuesday ready for a nice long week not having to move anywhere with our huge rucksacks (Nigel I just about managed to fit everything in but I am now wishing I had left a few things at home. P.S. How is our friend doing in Big Brother? Has she been voted out yet?). We were planning on doing a few days skiing, but unfortunately the weather hadn't been that good. Probably a good thing because it saved us some money!!!!!!
The wednesday was the only day we could go skiing. High up it was really good. The views were amazing, my pictures do not do it justice. In the afternoon it became really foggy! We couldn¨t see more than a few metres in front. I was really scared I might ski off the edge of the piste but I survived with just a couple of dramatic falls.
The next day we had a rest, this travelling life is very tiring!!!! The hostel is really cool, with loads of comfy bean bags and sofa's so we lounged on these watching dvd's all day.
On the friday day me a Dave decided to go for a walk. It was supposed to be a 2 hour trek up a mountain called Cerro Otto. Unfortunately my sense of direction (which of course is always brilliant) deserted me and we missed the turning and ended up walking 2 hours along the main road. Not very nice or scenic in anyway!!! However on the way back we were joined by a stray dog (We named him Bert). He followed us for nearly 5km before finding a group of school kids more interesting!
Bariloche has a really good night life. A lot of Brazilians and locals come here on holiday so of course we managed to make it to a few bars. On the Friday night after a bit of a bar crawl to places named Wilkenny's and Roxy, we somehow ended up in a locals club playing Reggae music. The last I remember is boogieing along to that!!!!
Another night we met up with a group we had met in Buenos Aires, playing drinking games with the Irish and once again ending up in Wilkenny's. A lot of fun!
The rest of the week was a bit of a downer because the weather was horrible. It rained almost none stop for about 3 days. We attempted another walk and ended up completely drenched so to be honest it was a relief to leave for sunnier weather in Mendoza.
