Lou's Travels
hi there again, just a little update about the final days in Byron Bay and the first day in Coffs harbour.
Since my last update, i've been having a great time in Byron, its such a nice place to be, very chilled out and relaxing. the sun finally came out for us and we spent the day on the beach, we had hangovers so it was perfect. (oh yeah forgot to mention, the quiet night at the pictures didnt really go to plan, the film was good and it was nice cinema, but we went for a couple of drinks after, we found ourselves rolling out of a club at 3 ish, heading for the 24hour bakery (brilliant idea) then to bed, we had a good night thou.....he he ). so the day on the beach was good, we then had a walk upto the lighthouse which was only suppose to take about 40 mins, but we went the long way and after about 45mins we could just about see the lighthouse (which is OZ's most eastern point) and we gave up, but we got some good photos! that evening we had a BBQ on the beach (me and the two girls clare and Jo) it was great, it was a clear night so loads of stars and some hippy dudes were sat near us playing a guiter and singing, it was brill.
The next day we got up earlish and headed to the market which is on once a month, it was great, lots of nice food stalls and bits and bobs and there was a couple of bands playing, it was like a mini festival, it was great, i could have stayed there all day. However, we had booked a surf lesson for 2.30pm so we had to leave. I was quite nervous about the lesson, as im not very keen on putting my head under water in the sea... i know it sounds stupid! anyway we got there and were told to leave all our stuff at the house (so no proof of photos im afraid you'll have to take my word for it) we then had to strip to our biknis in a shed and get our wet suits on (the instructor seemed a bit weird at this point and not very ammused by my jokes) anyway never mind, he livened up a bit on the beach. getting there carrying 2 boards was hard enough for me. He went thru all the safety stuff which scared the s**t out of me, all his talk of rips and currents...but he just laughed when i a told my concerns. anyway we had a quick practice on the beach and then went for it in the sea, the waves were a lot bigger when i was stood next to them, some just went right over my head (so i got over the whole head under water thing pretty quick) i manged to catch a few waves at first and then fell off a few times which was pretty scarey, cause the board hit my head (the sea was quite rough although he said there wasn't much swell.....)after trying hard i stood up for a split second and that was it, it was good fun but very tiring and im aching all over today, but i slept well last night! not going to be my profession but may try it again one day!
so that was it for Byron, we had a well deserved big meal that evening and an early night, and we all set off to Coffs harbour today, its quite quiet here and not much going on, but im goin to explore tomorrow, apparently there is a big banana here! will let you know how that goes in next update. then on to sydeny in the evening, so will fill you all in soon.
i hope you are all well, thank you for your updates, they're great and i love reading them.
see you all soon lots of love
Lou Xx
