Today i arrived in Sydney about 4pm, although the day did start off with both Oren & Philip both jumping on my bed at 8.30 this morning telling me to get up and "pack all my Cr@p" nice boys! After 17 cups of Yorkshire tea, much commotion & mikey taking. I was finally packed had said my goodbyes to Philip and was being dragged 2km up a hill with the 25kg's of backpack to get the airport bus, of course they fibbed to me and told me the bus stop was round the corner! On arrival at the bus stop we then duely missed the next bus due to scwabbling over who was going to buy the next cup of tea! but made it to the airport eventually. Thank goodness for Oren who carried part of my luggage through check in, I was way over limit, but in no time at all we were on the plane heading from Auckland to Sydney and again traveling across time zones this time Sydney being 4 hours ahead of Auckland! At the airport I said good bye to Oren who was on his way to Thailand and headed out into the big smoke Sydney!!!!!
So Sydney! well the first thing you notice when you get off the plane is the sun! unlike NZ which has a more British climate, Sydney is very warm! By the time I'd arrived, I'd gained 4 hours with the time difference so dumped my bags and set off to explore...
Sydney still has a strong Asian influence but slightly less than Auckland does, yet there are still korean restaurants and Sushi bars on every street corner. the harbour bridge and opera house where just 45 minutes walk from my backpackers so after grabbing a bite to eat i heading off, have a look at the pics!
The next day i decided to get out of the big smoke and headed off to what OZ is famous for, one of its many beaches and Sydney has many of them! just a short 20 minute bus ride form downtown Sydney is Coogee beach and a little further the world famous Bondi! now I'm not a beach girl at all, the thought of frying all day in the sun for that genuine crocodile skin look doesn't appeal to me, but this place was lovely the sand was like icing sugar with gorgeous blue skies, crystal clear sea and a good supply of eye candy!!
