When In Roam
Vatican City: the smallest country in the world, home of Pope Benny, and an absolute treasure trove of magnificent architecture. Our first stop was at St. Peter's Basilica, which is the probably the most impressive building that we've ever been in. From the high-vaulted ceilings and domes to the incredible golden monument behind the altar (pictured here), this building really did wow us at every turn. From there we went to the Vatican Museum, which culminated with a visit to the Sistine Chapel. Honestly, you could spend an entire day just admiring the paintings on the chapel ceiling alone.

Benny and Dianne A note from your cousin's wife, Pope Benadict. I went on a pilgramage one time to Roma with a group, we stayed at a convent there. Got up at 6:30 in the a.m. to take in mass at 12 noon. We got there at 8:30 just to get a seat up front. It was amazing. The pope was wheeled down the isle. And when mass was over we were standing on our chairs to take his picture. Only 6 seats from the mid isle,, I almost got to touch him. Wished I pushed more people out of the way as they did me. This was John Paul 11 in 2005. Our group was toured all over the place. It was truly amazing, the ruins, and the collisium. We went down stairs at the Bascillia to see where all the saints were buried. Large statues were awesome. Leaving there that day we had to pay .25 cents to stand in line to pee; either that or use the squatters rights. From there we went to Croatia and Bosnia and stayed another week in Medjorgia. I went there 3 different times, my first husband went 2001. I'd go fast again if it wasn't for the plane ride. Fri night we're eating cod cheeks at your parents place. Maybe I should stay home. haha
