A relaxing day in Pula today; that is, until we realized that buses to Ljubljana only go on Mondays and Fridays. It turns out that Pula is a much better transport hub in the summer, and since we are booked here until Monday night, we spent a good portion of our afternoon trying to arrange bus and train connections to arrive at our next booking in Ljubljana on Tuesday evening. Luckily we found a nice Irish pub with great Belgian beers (you follow that?) where we took advantage of some free wi-fi to do our planning. We'll keep you posted on how it all pans out...marvelously, I promise.
The rest of our day was spent exploring Pula's downtown core, which includes an amphitheatre that has a strong resemblance to the Roman Colosseum. The highlight had to be getting reacquainted with Croatian bakeries, where they make some of the most delicious savoury baked goods that you'll ever try.
PS: As I write, the lady were staying with dropped of fresh crepes filled with chocolate. Cupboard love indeed!
