We said a hasty farewell to Budapest this morning as we caught our train to Vienna in the knick of time. Each time that we arrive in Austria, we get the feeling the we've stumbled into an ultramodern society. The public infrastructure here is second to none: the streets are clean, the grounds are manicured, and even commonplace things have a certain polish that doesn't go unnoticed.
On arrival, we familiarized ourselves with Vienna's extensive underground system before heading out to the city's western suburbs. Located on the grounds of a former Habsburg palace, our hostel offers an amazing hilltop view of the city, but a bit removed from the frenetic downtown. And to help shake off the cobwebs from our morning train ride, we enjoyed a spirited game of mini-golf on the hostel's free course. If you look very closely, you can see the fierce determination that catapulted today's champion to victory!
