This morning was a very early start! We were up at 4.00am and ready for our airport drop off at 5.00am. We arrived at Nadi Airport at 5.20am and checked in early. We went for toast and coffee (Laura) and Croissant and Smoothie (Sarah) in a cafe before some last minute souvenir shopping. Once through security we wandered duty free and spent our last dollars (annoyed that the departure tax had been included in our ticket and we had it ready to pay in cash - oh well!) before boarding and taking off on time at 8.45am. The flight back to Auckland was good, we enjoyed omelette and sausages for breakfast, whilst watching Ratatouille and touched down in a rainy auckland at 12.45pm on Tuesday 4th March 2008.
We had a few hours to kill at the airport so after re-checking in at the transfer desk, we had a quick kip and a wander of the shops before having a mochachino and smoothie to spend our last New Zealand dollars. We boarded our flight to Chile slightly late but we pleased to discover we had a middle row of 4 seats to ourselves. We spread out but the flight was long, boring and uncomfortable. We didn't manage to sleep in the 11 hours and the films were rubbish. Food was good though, chicken with bacon and mash for dinner and ham and cheese sandwich for breakfast. We landed very smoothly in Santiago at 12.10pm on Tuesday 4th March 2008 (yes we had gone back in time!). We cleared immigration and booked a mini-bus to our hostel, our sleep deprivation finally catching up with us on the way. Once we had checked into La Casa Roja we had a much needed hours kip then headed out for a walk. We bought some fruit for tea and had a lazy evening and early night, looking forward to exploring the city.
