Back To The Falls
Caught the train to Niagara Falls. Lets just say Canadian train stations are al ittle different than English ones. No one is in a rush-no one seems to care they might miss a train-no one is concerned from which platform a train may be leaving. Had to pick up the tickets that were bought on the internet. There were 3 people in front in the line. Two poeple were booking tickets for next year and checking that it fitted in with their best days and horoscope. Come on people that's what the internrt is for. The second was checking what times trains were arriving the next day. In my best English I rudely said "I'm terribly sorry to interupt but is there any possibilty that I could collect some tickets for the train that is arriving in one minute?" After exchanged raised eyebrows the tickets were printed and thrown at me. Accent works every time!
The train was late. It was a pleasent trip of 90 minutes to the Falls. Stunning, breath taking, magical and amazing as ever. I stood transfixed watching them and listening to the rumble of the water as it plunged over the edge. Clifton Hill was bright, brazen and bold-even more so than before. I love it! Its tacky and so much fun. Ate at Wendy's and then got an Adventure Pass. First Maid of the Mist where you get up close and personal to the Falls. You will get wet! But fear not ponchos are provided. Not so much fun being in one when you are stood in 30c heat and sun waiting to board the boat. Then Journey behind the Falls-loud and powerful-you see the water as it comes down. Awesome to be up so close to the water. Ponchos provided. Why would you want to go over in a barrel? Then the Aero Car over the Whirl Pools-wow! What a view. Who would ever be crazy to try and swim in that?
The Falls look even more incredible when they are lit up at night. They look so cool. Simple yet effective. Dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. Watched them making fudge at 12.30am and then played in the arcade. This place doesn't sleep! Ah at least I have a another day at this incredible place.
