The bus journey took all day to get here and it was the first time on this trip that ive actually travelled on my own. Vic has stayed another night in Vang Veing and is meeting me the dat after, and Becky and Louise have different plans to us now, which is an end of an era for us all really! I got to Luang Prabang fine though, as I knew I could and got a tuk tuk to Spicy Laos as Curtis and Nina were there already. The hostel was lovely and there were really nice people there, so we all went to the night market where I bought more stuff!! Typical me! The night market and Luang Prabang in general at night is really pretty with lights and lanterns everywhere. It reminded me of Hoi An Vietnam as had the same feel to it. We then went to a restaurant that we had been recommended but we had to get a boat across the river to get to which was hilarious! There were about 6 of us on this boat with 1 Laos man at either end rowing this boat with such a strong current! The water was so high up on the boat that we thought it was going to come over the edge! It was worth it though as the food was really nice and had benches with cushions rather than normal tables and chairs that you get everywhere else. The yesterday we all just walked around the town and chilled at the hostel as it's a really cool place to hang out. Vic came last night then tonight me, Vic, Curtis, AJ and Nina are getting the overnight bus to Chiang Mai, Thailand to enter my last country in South East Asia before hitting Australia!! It's a 12 hour night bus so not too bad anyway. I'm still feeling really ill from Vang Veing and not drank in days, which is good for me!
I'm loving South East Asia even more than I thought I would! It's just so different to anywhere else I have ever been to in the world and I like that. Ive spent just less than 2 weeks in Laos and don't feel that ive seen much of it to make up my mind on it yet. I might come back here and go to other areas, but the transport links are terrible here and takes hours to get anywhere so that's off putting.
Laos highlights:
*Tubing, Tubing, Tubing!!!
*Luang Prabang night market
*Luang Prabang boat crossing the restaurant
*Halloween in Vientiane
