Hello
Since the last update on our last day in Bangkok we visited the thai massage parlour, big mistake, I (Lucy)found out that i was the worlds ticklish person and couldnt stop laughing for the full hour the woman found it quite funny, at the same time Charlotte was falling asleep next to me while the large thai lady walked up her back!
It was now time to board the overnight train to Surat Thani. This was an experience we will never forget, we had to walk through 8 carriages to reach the "party carriage"! This consisted of about 15 seats, a portable cd player and flashing Xmas lights plus extra light show from the train guard who was dancing in the carriage flashing his torch!! V amusing. Later returned to our bug infested bunk beds - well one or 2 bugs anyway! and had to sleep with our bags in the bed as told thieves get on and off at each station.
Arrived in Surat Thani at 5.30 in morning- then travelled by songthaew (pick up truck) to Khao Sok- rainforest area where we stayed at Arts forest lodge in bungalows with no hot water for 2 nights.
Whilst there we did tubing down the river- ultimate lazy river apart from everyone in the group got bitten by fish apart from us two!!
We then visited a temple in the caves- where monks live as well as monkeys there are loads here in general.
After a few drinks we decided it would be a really good idea to go hunting for terantulas in the rainforest with the local guide/barman. We realised this was not a good idea when i couldnt look at the spiders anyway and we both left the group and ran back to the lodge for another beer instead! A giant frog was then brought out to entertain us and decided to relieve itself all over tims hand and the table- frogs must have very large bladders!
Next day early start for elephant riding was extremely good and got to feed them and everything. Took off on our own in the afternoon for a 3 hour trek in the Khao Sok National Park never sweated so much in our lives but the waterfalls and pools were worth it.
