Y'all
To start with, I hope everyone is well wherever on the globe you may be. I've had heaps of email from ppl of late and have been very slack in replying to most of them. Sorry! I promise that I will get back to all of them in due course!
Our latest trip was to glorious Amsterdam. It was a major rush to get out to Heathrow on time for our 18:55 flight and some of the lads were laying a few bets as to whether the plane would leave with a few empty seats. Fortunatly the stars all aligned a had a full 8 mins to spare, in fact I could have definatly got a sharper in at the bar before boarding much to Bron's disgust!
As I landed at Amsterdam Bob Marley was Jammin' in the haedphones....would it be a hint of things to come, only time would tell! From looking at their website, our hotel looked less than impressive but upon arrival it was actually very nice. It was in a great location allbeit away from the touristy area of town, a fact we would grow to love. The area itself was fantastic. Quite an arty part of Amsterdam with great resteraunts and bars and very few tourists. It also had bikes which we used to explore the city quite thoroughly. Speaking of which, i've never seen so many bikes in my life! Forget cars, pedal power was the order of the day!
Over the next three days we proceded to eat and drink our way through Amsterdams finest and not so fine. Managed to see alot of the sites; Anne Frank's house, a cruise of the canals, the flower market and the infamous coffee shops and red light district. To be frank, it was the places where the lights didnt shine so bright that we all preferred.
The city itself was extremely pretty and with 1000+ bridges actually very easy to navigate even without a map! The ppl too where fantastic. Whenever i asked for directions or advice they were more than happy to help us out which made the trip even more pleasant. the other thing that really stood out was how clean the palce was.
All in all a great few days. Well worth seeing
