Lorry and Hickey's Excellent Adventure
Wow Singapore is awesome! Our journey there was epic - we got up at 4am and arrived at our hostel 20 hours later - phew! We also managed to be in three countries in one day - woke up in New Zealand, stopped of for a couple of hours in Melbourne, then finally Singapore. We were so knackered from all the travelling that we went to the food court next to our hostel then went to bed. The food court was amazingly cheap - we managed to get 2 curries with rice and 4 cokes for less than $10 - 5 quid!!
The next morning we were up and out of the hostel by 8:30! We decided to get a 2 day hop on hop off bus pass as we only had a couple of days, which turned out to be a brilliant idea as we did so much. We went to Chinatown, then went to see the Singapore Flyer (the largest wheel in the world) but didn't go on as it was too expensive, went to the esplanade and walked along the riverside which was wicked as they have some awesome architecture and even a floating footy pitch! After lunch we went on a river cruise, and kept having to wave at the swarms of school kids that kept shouting and waving at us! They were all so happy to see us we felt like minor celebrities!! Once that we done we headed to Orchard Road, which has 6km of shops! there were all sorts of la-di-da shops like Gucci, Prada, Mui Mui etc along this super long road. At one point we needed to cross a road that was so big that we had to use an underpass. So there we were walking down the steps thinking it was going to be like the underpass on Flemming Way in Swindon, but when we got down there it turned out to be loads more shops in a big complex under the street as far as you could see. It took us 20 minutes to cross the road!! We then went to Little India - which was huge! The irony was not lost on us! It was also uber cheap and everything smelt so good. If we hadn't had to get the bus would have definitely had stayed for some grub - the smell from the spices was immense! We also drifted into a mosque as we could see flashing lights inside and it was really surreal - people chanting, setting things on fire, carrying fruit, ringing bells - it was insane! On the way back we went to Raffles to take some photo's outside (we didn't feel posh enough to go in) grabbed another cheap dinner from the food court and went home. When we got back to our hostel (which incidently was called The Happy Snail - we chose it in honour of our mate Sally) the Danish guy Kristian that was in our room in Queenstown was checking in! Ker-azy! On our second day we went to Sentosa, billed as "Asia's favourite playground". It is basically an island dedicated to fun, filled with museums, shops, cinema's, beaches, everything! They even have a Universal Studios! It is a place you could really do with a few days in, with a lot of money! We got there about half 10 and headed to one of the beautiful beaches for a relax in the sun. After about an hour lying in the sun watching some dogs learn how to swim the heavens opened and it rained for pretty much the rest of the day. It didn't stop us doing things though. We walked across a suspension bridge to a bit of land that is the southerly most point of Continental Asia, went on some of the scenic (covered) walks and spent hours in the interactive museum.

when we got back we went to our favourite food court then went to bed, still unsure whether we were going to go to Malaysia the next day or stay another night!
