G’day everyone ;l-)
Well Sam and I are in Geelong as we speak, we are staying with my mums family and I can honestly say that we have the BEST weekend ever, but more about that in a bit!!!!!
So I eventually made it to Melbourne after my very long, and tiring 2 day trip. It wasn’t too bad, except….. the boat I got on from Koh Toa broke down….in the middle of the sea!!!!!!! Seriously it just stopped and it was crazy as I was asleep, sunbathing at the front of the boat ( what else would I be doing on a boat in Thailand?????) and then I woke up and we were just bobbing about in the sea, I must admitt I was a little scared, actually terrified but then after 20minutes or so it started moving again and everyone seemed to find the whole thing hilarious apart from me of course ;-) Good times hey. So then I got to the train station in Chumphon and had a 4 hour wait there, as I managed to catch an earlier train to Bangkok, so I just chilled out and tried to sleep more but ti wasn’t the nicest of train stations!!!! The trains are CRAZY over in Thailand. They just kind of rock up at the station and theres all these Thai people jumping on the trains selling their local food, rice, noodles, stick insects and all that ( euuuuw) and the people on the train, who were mostly Thai people, jump off the train and just go a bit crazy before getting back on. Its odd. Anyway I got the train at about 10pm and I was in my lovely wooden seat, sat next to this lovely Thai women who was taking her grandson to visit his mother. She actually spoke pretty good English and we did our best to have a little conversation, her grandson was climbing all over me which was kinda cute but not at 3am when Im trying to sleep. But the train journey was ok and I survived, and I finally made it to Melbourne on Friday morning and met Sam
The adventure continued……. Sam and I were so tired and were already fed up of our backpacks that we decided to just check into the nearest hostel we saw and wanted to sleep. So we did exactly that! Bad idea or what!!!!!! We stayed in this AWFUL place called Backpackers Heaven or something, but heaven it certainly wasn’t!!!!!!!!!! It was pure filth. We shared a room with 2 other girls which was fine and the room seemed fine, and clean, a little musty maybe but ok, then we noticed the 2 girls had huge red yucky bites all over them, not just their arms and legs, but their faces and everywhere. So we asked them if they were mossie bites and they quite openly told us, (and dint seem bothered in the slightest) that they were bed bug bites and that the place was crawling with them!!!!!!! Then we noticed that there was blood on the walls, it was horrible. But we tried to look for other accommodation but all of the hostels were full and we weren’t due to arrive in geelong to stay with John and Adrienne until the next morning. So….. we had to stay in the fle pit and it was just gross. Everyone we saw in the hostel was covered in these bites and the weird thing was, they told us they hasd been staying there for weeks!!!! Some even months???!!!!! DO NOT EVER stay at that place if anyone goes to Melbourne, it needs closing down, seriously!!!!!!! John and Adrienne have already said they are going to write to the health authorities and complain. Oh and to add to the experience, we found out actually while we were there, an d from our Aussie relatives over here, that just 2 weeks ago, a Thai guy had been caught in the showers with a camera ( mixed bathrooms) filing the women in the showers!!!!!!!!! And he’s just been put away for it, it was in the papers and everything. Nice place hey!!!!!!!! We’re both up for slumming it a bit in hostels but that’s just way out of order.
So….. that night we also did the Famous Ramsey Street, neighbours Tour which was great. We got on this cute little blue neighbors bus and did the whole tour. We got to meet Darcy who was in it a while ago which was good and we were all soooooooooooo sad and were way too excited about it, hehe. Sam and I were in our element, so was everyone else. It kinda runied our dreams a little though as it turns out that Ramsey St doesn’t actually exist, boooooooooo…. And that its actually this tiny tiny tiny little culdesac near Melbourne and peole actually live in the houses, they just film the outside scenes there and do the rest in this studio round the corner. So nothing inside is actually filmed in the houses, its all a big con, hahahha. Sam seemed quite upset about the whole thing ( shes a real diehard neighbours fan) but it was great to see it all. And we even got to go to "Erinsborough High" which also is a "Real" school and its not called that. It was fun anyway. Oh yeah for those of u that watch it………… Stingray dies, Brie leaves and Paul Robinson poisons the whole street. Just for your info ;-)
So then we left the fleapit and came to geelong and we’re staying with my mums Auntie and Uncle which has been great! We’ve met all the family and all my little cousins ( They are my 2nd cousins? I think) and yesterday we went for a lovely drive around the area, which is gorgeous and we got to see Kangaroos, lots of them, just hopping around on their local golf course!!!!! How cool. Then last night John and Adrienne had a big Aussie BBQ round their house and their 3 daughters and their young kids came, it was the best bbq ever ( Sorry dad, and Tom, yours are great but this was something out of this world!!!!!!) The steaks were amazing and it was lovely to meet all the family. We sat up til late and just chatted and drank. Great night. Its been great also to sleep in a clean, comfy bed with fresh towels!!!!!!! Heaven
Then today we went surfing really early with the family and Sam and I even tried it, in Torquay, it wass soooooooooooo much fun and we actually weren’t too bad at it. The water was a little cold as its cooled down over here, well not really cooled down, it has been 40deg and now its 22deg, but compared to Thailand that’s cold for me!!!!!! ;-) Sorry guys but it is, I know your all cold right now, hehe) Then this afternoon we all went to a big Aussie Rules Football game which was great fun. It was the Geelong Cats against the Richmond Tigers and it was sooooooooo good. It’s a crazy sport but we soon picked it up and it was a great afternoon. We even had meat pies, yummmmmmmy. Great atmosphere too!!!!
So we leave to go to Sydney tomorrow, we’re on separate flights but we’ll be there by tomorrow afternoon and then we ‘re staying with a friend from School, who is living on Bondi beach which will be good.
So, that’s all for now, but will write again soon. We are LOVING Australia!!!!! What a fab country and we’ve only been to Melbourne and Geelong. Bed bugs SUCK though (literally, haha) Big hugs and missing you all. Laura Loo.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
