Day 27: 27/1/13
As you can tell I've gotten very lazy with photos! I haven't been using my phone for a camera really so the purple is just my camera cover- what you can see when I take a blank picture!
Today was a bus day! We left at 6:40 and had a few stops at other hostels in Wellington. It was about 7 when we left Wellington. At around 9 we stopped for coffee/breakfast. I asked for two slices of toast and it took about 20 minutes- I don't think our driver was impressed!
We stopped at the Tongariro national park at about 12 for a half hour. Niamh from the last bus had left her phone behind so we had to pick it up for her and bring it to Auckland. We had one more stop for about 10 minutes and that was it! Driving, driving, driving!
I think the driver was getting tired too as he jammed on the brakes at one stage when he hadnt noticed that the traffic had stopped in front of him! Of course that was the minute that I was just dozing off asleep!!
We got to Auckland around half five I think. I checked into the same room Niamh was in so got to chat to her again. She was going down the town for a wander so I stayed and had a shower and sorted myself out for the flight. Hazel lives in Auckland and has friends here so she left her stuff with them and came back to go for some dinner. Hazel and I had food in a bar she used to work in.
I don't know if I put this in yesterday but Hazels name is actually Adele and she had been on her friends ticket. She was really worried about telling us incase we would think she was a liar!! It was a good job she told us though as all the barmen knew her by name!
We sat in a quiet corner and a few minutes later four guys sat near us, one of them dressed as a cheerleader with an anchor chained to his foot- it was obvious they were on a stag do. In the next half hour more and more of them started arriving until we were surrounded! Niamh came to meet us then and another girl from the hostel. We all had to give the stag a hug and they had challenges for him to do which involved us waxing his armpits. Not pretty! Thankfully they didn't stay too long and we could actually have a chat! Niamh was full of stories of what happened on the bus since we separated. A lot of the group are gone onto Thailand and are all meeting up over there. We went to one other pub and then I went back to the hostel as I was going to have to be up for 3.
