Day 47: 25/7/13
Today was a relaxing day for a change!! We had a bit of a sleep in and then we tried to save and swap all our photos before Ann-Marie would go. We copied each others and then we copied Hannah's aswell as she has a class camera. I'll have a million photos now of this trip alone and I won't know what to do with them all!
Steph, Hannah and Ann-Marie are all leaving today and happen to be on the same flight to Bangkok so they had to check out at 12. Most people are leaving at some stage today, so everyone was down there to check out. Some people had goodbyes to say but I was going to see everyone later anyway!
Hannah, Ann-Marie and I went for breakfast/lunch then. Steph was too ill to come after last night! We just had time to get a taxi to a restaurant, eat something and get a taxi back. The restaurant was nice though and there was noone in it so we got great service- free gazpacho and fancy bread rolls!!
When we got back it was time for them to go to the airport. Bryan had a flight at a similar time so he went with the three girls. Iain, Jackie and Andy had a similar flight too but they had already left by the time we got back. We said our goodbyes anyway and waved them off!!
I didn't know what to do for the rest of the afternoon. I was going to go to the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum but then found out it's only open in the morning. I was kind of lazy then and tired so I decided to book a manicure and pedicure for an hours time and I had a nap for the hour in between.
The spa was just down one flight of stairs from my room so it was really handy! Any time I've had a manicure or pedicure before there has been a tray it cushion or something to out your hands and feet on. Not this time. A little Vietnamese girl sat in front of me on a little stool and I'd to put my hands or feet on her lap! She rubbed lime on all my nails too- I wonder what that does for them! She had to scrape all the dry skin off my feet too- so I left her a tip!! There weren't really any nice colours, so I went for red- you can get away with red for a lot of outfits! Hopefully the polish will last until the races.
I had arranged to go to dinner with the people that were left- Dan, Mike, Denise, Amar, Heather and Sarah. I was only back from the pedicure when Mike knocked to tell me they were thinking of going earlier as Heather and Sarah had a flight to catch later. We went to a restaurant within walking distance that the reception ha recommended. It was a Vietnamese restaurant paked with locals. It wa absolutely huge! Every corner you looked had more tables and people! When the Vietnamese eat dinner they order three or four different dishes and then all share bits and pieces of each. We didn't cop onto that when we were ordering though. I ordered a green papaya salad with quail and it was tiny. It was supposed to be just a side dish really, but I didn't know that! So I was starved after dinner!! The quail was interesting- mostly just bones!
When I got back to the hotel, Shell had left a message saying she'd be around to Skype so I was chatting to her for around an hour. All the news I was telling her will be in the blog when I eventually get them all finished!!
