Day 20: 20/7/12
Woke at 3:30am with the cold!! You wouldn't expect that in the jungle. The yanks were awake shortly after and talking which kept us up. We wanted to give Lucho a tip (the done thing around here). He was supposed to wake the yanks at 5:30 so we were planning on catching him then, but of course they were ahead of schedule and already at breakfast by then. When we had our breakfast they were gone on the trip so we left a note with the tip in it for Lucho. He had wanted some Irish music so we left names of people for him to look up.
Breakfast this morning was pancakes- yummy. The bar man was full of chat again this morning- wondering if Emanuel was our friend. Also wanted to know if we would come back some time- perhaps on our honeymoon. I definitely would go back, but think id be picking a more relaxing place for a honeymoon.
Got the boat back to town. Emanuel was making fun of muireann because she jumped when the boat nearly turned over. She wasn't impressed because he was more terified than anyone! We had a long journey back to town because the locals had burned one of the bridges, probably in protest because the government don't give them much money. The bridge was one of the two secure logs that we have to drive over!!
Hung around in the airport for a few hours. Got our flight- no excitement on it, thank God. I closed my eyes and rested for most of the flight and Muir wasn't impressed that she couldn't sleep! As soon as we sat down, the person in front of muireann jumped into his seat. What he didn't realise was that Muir was looking for her safety belt and he nearly knocked her into tomorrow!
At Lima airport we were about to start looking for a taxi when we noticed a sign with muirs name on it. We had been told that they couldn't pick us up, but lo and behold there they were! It was a woman driver with a small automatic Hyundai. She kept veering in and out of lanes and we were getting beeps all sides! The hotel is nice- big fancy beds and lovely toilets- so we can wash after our jungle treks!
No food nearby so we had the luxury of ordering pizza and eating it in our pyjamas up in the room- spoiled or what!!
