Day 28: 28/7/12 We didn't have to get up too early this morning. Had breakfast, went into uyuni to get water and postcards! Then came back to the hotel and watched some Olympics. Day 27: 27/7/12 Woke at 7 for some reason and couldn't go back to sleep! So got up and had breakfast and a shower and was in Potosi square by 9! Went to the casa de la moneda (the royal mint). Potosi was known from making coins from about 1575 to 1951. The first mint was in the square but in the 18th century they had to build a bigger place and thats where I was. Day 26: 26/7/12 Had to get the bus this morning from Sucre to Potosi. We had a private bus for ourselves so that was grand cos we got a seat to ourselves! The bus was three hours long and we were told that we would stop for a toilet half way. We did stop but it was just on the side of the road, looking over the valley we had just driven up. Day 25: 25/7/12 Had a day to myself really in the town. First I went to the Indigenous art museum- 6 main indigenous groups around Sucre- Jalq'as, peanas, tarabucos, ch'utas, katus, llameros. Tinguipaya textiles- people in the Highlands. Weaving by women. Knitting by men. Lots of intricate designs and 2-d shapes representing sun, birds, money, etc Jalq'a textiles- red and black. Day 24: 24/7/12 So this morning 4 from the group were meant to do the hike- Joanne from Canada and Emmanuel and Tamara from Switzerland. But, Tamara was getting sick all night do she didn't come.
