Last couple of days in Paris have been much more inspiring. Guess that we allowed the rail situation to tarnish our experience, as well as a few French archetypes.
Today, the few people we were in contact with were so much warmer than at the outset.....that really helped to unblock our perceptual filters. Today was predominantly the 'Louvre' day. Can you do it in less than a day? A week? A month? So many artistic delights. Highlights were the Caravaggios, Egyptian relics and tapestries, Islamic glassware and ceramics, myriad sculptures, paintings by Lotto, Da Messina, Bellini, LeNain, Poussin, Vouet etc etc. Another bonus was that the weather has cooled down.
I haven't mentioned that even though we are in the second half of the European Autumn, the first few days in Paris have been humid with the temperature hovering around 25 degrees Celsius (Rebecca Smith weather)...and what attire are we carrying? Swiss Christmas clothing. So today, a delectable 14 degrees. In a nutshell, Paris is growing on us.. Hopefully, we will love Paris by the time we leave. Bon Nuit!
Ps we didn't get a full wireless connection in our Paris pension, so our photo uploads are way behind. Will upload Brugge, Gent and Paris as soon as we reach more generous lodgings.

Sue (cairns, Australia) Too funny, it sounds like we have experienced the same issues you have with the rail and French people, nice to know we are not alone. Completely different to Aus, we haven't experienced any difficulties with our eurail pass as of yet but it sounds like France could be our first bad experience with eurail.
