Our last day in Carcassonne. The freezing winds have finally eased and it is a stunningly sunny and crisp 10 degrees. We walk extensively around and through the new (relatively) city and look at real estate....mmmmm? You can buy an apartment with views to the medieval city for around 70-80000 euro and rent fsimilar for around 650per month. We head back to our accommodation to gather our packed lunch: fresh baguette bread with cheese and meats and some local Provence Rose.
We head back up to the medieval city, to our favourite spot and savour the meal, wine and surreal surrounds. We repeat our tracks through the city, a couple of personal souvenirs and head back to our lodgings in the latter afternoon.
We meet a lovely student who hails from the Chinese village of . ,famous for the terracotta soldiers. He strongly encourages us to visit his village if we are ever inChina. He tells us that Carcassonne is well known in China because of a strategy game of the same name and context. We also meet a lovely Canadian couple who are travelling around Europe. In a nutshell, everyone we meet us staggered by Carcassonne's medieval city.
