So a rundown of our daily routine in Koh Samui went like this: get up late; it's a lot easier to lie in when there is air-con! Then we would roll, I mean hop down the hill to our breakfast place, our usual of eggs and toast for Sean and fruit and yoghurt for Laura. Then a long long limp up the hill, rest at our guesthouse for a while and then another trek the other side down to the hospital for the daily torture, I mean, clean. The trip to either place would take a normal person about 3 minutes but took us about 25. It filled most of our day. Then we spent the evening in the room playing Canasta, a game I taught Sean, and he really really enjoyed, except when he lost (more rarely than I would have liked) and he got VERY annoyed and rude when he lost. Cabin fever.
Chris took us out for another meal, this time to a Korean BBQ. It was incredible. We were given a large bowl with hot coals in, and then a metal dome was put on top. You cooked your meat on the sloped edges, and in the little moat around the edge we filled it with water and put our noodles and veg in. The juices ran off into the moat and made the best noodle soup. Most interesting meal ever. We hope this is really what a Korean BBQ is like and e can look forward to lots more in SK!
We watched plenty of old Law and Order episodes and found some interesting new shows; Sea Patrol, about the Australian Navy; Life, strange cop show; Shattered, very odd multiple personality cop; watched some Criminal Minds and we are now hooked. And lots of Law and Order.
After a few days on the crutches we could very slowly limp around so we booked our bus to Bangkok asap. We took Chris and his wife out for dinner to say thanks for everything, and had another gorgeous Thai meal. Lots of different delicious foods and we discovered the crispy fried pork here is amazing. Another one to add to our list of favourites.
Koh Samui wasn't quite supposed to turn out like this but of all the places to be stuck it wasn't too bad. Sun, sand, good food and a friendly face or two. Fingers crossed for better luck in Bangkok!!!
