Hello from Ankara the capital of Turkey.
Left Goreme Sunday morning,we had our Turkish night out on the Saturday night which was a great night. The food was great we all piled around the tables and tucked in.It wasn't long before the place quickly filled up.Of course it was set in an undergroud vault to add to the authenticity of being in the Cappadocia region where the place is full of cave dwellings. It was fantastic. We were entertained by Turkish dancers, the first lot were a bit creepy but it was meant to be a religious dance so no photos were allowed to be taken during their performance. After the creepy dancers we had a very lively bunch who were getting us up to dance and join in which was hilarous.I meet some Irish guy who was simply delighted to meet a fellow patriot,he was a sergant in the army but couldn't tell me anything about his work,if he did he would have had to kill me!! He was with a lot of other army officials.
Ankara is a sprawling capital that i have not given justice to due to the necessity of sorting out the formalities of getting our visas for Pakistan.Arrived to the area Sunday evening where we bush camped a few miles outside the city by a quarry i might add not the most peaceful of places to stay.Anyway after dinner, tents pitched and it wasn't long untill i climbed into my cosy bed with my termals on,slept until about 5.30am then it was a cold awakening to the morning,we rolled into Ankara, reached our destination at 8am to be dissappointed to find out we had yet another form to fill out.I had to go to the Irish embassy to get a letter of recommendation to travel to Pakistan which took up most of my day so very little of the city was seen during the day on Monday.
However the highlight of the day was i did get to see Ankara by night. One of the girls has a friend living here and we were his guests for the night,we were showed around taken places and made the most of our evening. We oupted out of bush camping and stayed in a hotel arrived back to the rest of the group for 9 this morning( Tuesday). It was another great and late night in another city, felt safe enough here the place has a western feel and i am so looking forward to feeling the whole eastern vibe once we travel east a bit more.
Not sure what the plan is for this evening planning to leave Ankara and head east so probably be bush camping tonight, whoopy do....
no photos yet but hope to add them sooooooooonnnnnnnn
