Groundhog days are still here
What a bizarre evening,i've experienced a chinese disco with the locals,it was the location that was bizarre.Neon lights flashing over a metal archway highlighted where we needed to go for the disco tunes.Don't worry i was with Polly,Rach and Martin and some local guys we had meet earlier in the night, the rest of the gang made a wise move and headed home.As we entered the courtyard to this disco a smell was in the air and one i'd smelt before but couldn't quite believe what i was about to see,we had come across an abortoire that was slaughtering pigs not in the most humane of ways.As much as i am fascinated with abortoires when home this i did not want to see or hear for that matter. You could not block out the sound of the squealling pigs. There was no stopping Martin from having a look,i know he is young and inquisitive but he didn't need to have a look. The place was unsanitary with offal everywhere, carcasses hanging up and pigs heads on the floor.Howerver on the way home not just Martin checked it out but both the girls had a look to it seemed okay to take a look like it was an exhibition.I stood outside not wanting to look,as much as animals are part of our food chain and diet it's not how animals should be killed. Not a nice thought to have in one's head on the way home from an evening.
Considering my late night i managed to rest until nine this morning then construction work near our hotel started up.Forget at times Sunday is not a day of rest here, business as usual. We have a hospital at the rear of our hotel not sure what it's all about but there is also lots of little shops that have beds set up and administering some kind of intravenous fluids to people. Not sure what kind of health service China offers to it's people.Mengal,i'm not even sure if i'm spelling it right but there really is not anything of great interest here.Walked to both the north and south city limits,on the edges the place is much poorer than what can be found in the centre.I so hope we can move on from here tomorrow (Monday),as much as i have seen of China, mainly Tibet and south China a fair bit of the countryside there is so much i have not seen or experienced and so much i have been surprised by.Would love to visit more of this country, maybe head north,it has made me realise how vast China is.Travelling has made me take more of an interest in world matters, like i said yesterday though i feel sheltered from what is happening in the rest of the world.Every so often we get a snipet of what is going on else where.Roll on Laos,i have to be Luang Prabrang to celebrate the ould birthday.Love to all, keep the gossip from home coming x x x x x x x x
