Soooo went to the grand palace yesterday, was boiling hot yet again. To get there we took a river taxi-now this shouldve taken us about 5 mins....but an hour and a half later we arrived at the relevant pier. the boat ride was like a secret passage a completely different world. the river was brown and dirty and there were small children washing in it and shacks on the side of the river made out of random bits of wood and corrugated iron and people were living in them...areas not much bigger than my down stairs toilet! it was so unreal...at one point i saw a lil child in a cage, all the people were waving at us as we went by and lil men in rowing boats keep pulling themselves up to our boat to try and sell us things. it was definitly eventful! then on the walk to the palace there were loads of people selling things, all sorts like jewellery sunglasses etc and even samurai swords....which i very nearly bought for ryan but decided i didnt want to risk getting stopped in the airport! the palace was very sparkley and huge...jas would hav described it as 'bling' lol. but we couldnt stay there for long because it was so hot and we had to wear long sleeves ad long shorts to be allowed in. so we left and wandered down to a lil out of the way restaurant called arun residence which over looked the river, had some food and a chill. it was really lovely and relaxing after a bit of a challenging day.
