Friday Afternoon
Yeah!!! We're on our way to the Swim Meet all the way down in Odessa. I feel like I know a little better what to expect this time.
We had lunch at Mcalisters', were on the road by 2:00 and rolled into Midland at about 6:30.
Dinner at Logan's. We're both
now full and sleepy. Nite!
Saturday Morning
We're here and made it on time! We have a front row seat that should guarantee good pictures and lots of splashs! Jaden competes in 4 heats and there's LOTS of kids here. The pool isn't as big as Midlands' so this will definately be an all day event. Dana how did you manage to go the 2 hour Meet in Altus? Just luck, I guess? :0)
Grandma's gotta vent just a bit here. I think Speedo's should be outlawed in these high school competitions. I know for a fact a fella in the Midland Meet was sporting a pair of rolled up socks! I told Jaden that if I ever saw him in those horrible little Speedo's I'd give him a wedgie every time I got a chance! It gave the lady sitting next to me a good chuckle. Am I sounding like a grandma? Good!!!
I'm really starting to enjoy watching all the swimmers. I may actually get the hang of this. I learned to read the schedule today!
We're back at the hotel for a while. Jaden has finished 3 of the 4 events he is competing in today. There will be 3 to 4 hours before his last competition. I figure this is a perfect time to check out the pillows on our bed while Papa indulges in a little football while he's sitting in the doorway with a fan, smoking a cigar. Do we know how to have a good time or what?
Jaden's last event is an 800 yard relay. I think that means he will have to swim the length of the pool and back two times. I can't even imagine!
It's all over now! Jaden did GREAT on his leg of the relay! He was starting to really wind-down and wasn't feeling too well, but you'd never know it. I'm very, very proud of you Jade!
Back at the hotel. Gotta get an early start tomorrow! This was a really good day!
The Oodessa Meet is just a memory now. We're heading home and are about to hit the Lamesa city limits.
