We are now in Siem Reap, Cambodia arriving about and hour ago. Our Guesthouse that we booked had double booked us for tonight so they sent us to a partner one across the road and it's really nice, no hardship to be moved from one nice guesthouse to another!
We are really glad to have arrive as it has taken nearly two whole days to travelling from Ko Chang to get here. We caught the ferry from Ko chang yesterday at 10am and we arrived at the border town of Aranyaprathet to stay the night before we crossed at 6pm. Today we left at 9am and arrived at 2pm so that wasn't too bad although the road from the border to SIem Reap was appalling! ?It was mostly a potholed dirt track with occasional broken tarmac and this is one of the national highways! Thankfully this is an exeption as all the other highways have been done properly. The rumour is that an airline that flies between Bangkok and Siem Reap are paying off government officials to leave that road until last to be resurfaced thus perpetuating the stories of a gruelling road journey and ecouraging people to fly!
We met up yesterday with two Swedish girls, Ana and Linda who were on the same bus as us from the ferry and were going the same way as us so we've all joined up to travel. We are going to meet up later on for food as they are stying at a different guesthouse to us further into town.
Cambodia is very different to Thailand, it has a more rugged feel. I really like it so far and some of the countryside we passed on the way was cool.
Tomorrow we are going to Angkor Wat, having arrange a driver already. We are thinking that we will use the driver tomorrow and then hire bicycles once we know how to get there and how far it is from the hotel.
